Project initiated by the Embassy of France in Thailand and King Power Group, under the patronage of His Excellency M. Laurent Bili (Ambassador of France to Thailand) and K. Vichai Raksriaksorn (CEO of King Power Group).

Come dine in the dark and live an extraordinary experience! The restaurant "Dans le noir?" or "In the Dark" was opened in Paris in 2003 by Edouard de Broglie and Etienne Boisrond. In 2006, a second restaurant opened in London followed by a third in Moscow. Two more restaurants will be soon opened in New york and Barcelona. There are other restaurants of this kind across the world but "In the dark" is the first private chain of restaurants that runs in the dark. Dinners in the dark are an age-old idea first apparently used by associations of the visually-impaired since the middle of the 19th century to make their families and near ones more sensitive to the visual handicap. It is not about 'acting' blind but rather living between friends a unique sensorial, gastronomic, human and social adventure.

A sensorial adventure, since we are used to eating, eyes wide open. "In the dark" invites you to awaken your other senses: taste, smell and touch.

A gastronomic adventure, because you will discover French gastronomy in a new way. In the dark, the cuisine of the restaurant "Deja vu", prepared under the direction of Chef Sylvain Royer (whose restaurant has one Michelin Star) is as good as in broad daylight. But would you be able to recognise the delicacies in your plate as easily?

A human adventure, because you will, in the course of dining, enter a world in which visual prejudices do not exist. Although vision is a blessing that affords us a great many things, you will also realize that it shuts us off in our id?es recues, preconceived ideas.

Lastly, a social adventure in support of the employment of handicapped individuals, because this experience values the skill and competence of the visually-challenged. Through this entertaining experience, we understand that handicapped individuals can be integrated into work, provided the work is adapted to them, and our outlook more open!

"Dans le noir?" (Paris) : Management: Edouard De Broglie / Fabrice Roszczka. With the support of the Thailand Association of The Blind.

This is the occasion to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the Birth of M. Louis Braille, French inventor of the writing system, of the same name, intended to help visually-impaired individuals.
