La Fete would not be complete without the "French film festival".
Enjoying ever-rising popularity, French films have drawn almost 78 million viewers of the world in 2008. For the 6th year of the festival, the public in Bangkok will have the opportunity to discover a selection of the latest films and enjoy a blend of genres and "flavors" in the track of eclectic cinema, representing the cultural diversity in France. The freedom of expression granted to the creators, the multiplicity of genres and the melting-pot of influences are undoubtedly the elements that make plural cinema so singular: a cinema that draws inspiration from the environment in which it is anchored, the mirror of our culture and our society, but also a cinema with entertaining qualities.
The films selected present the hits in cinema halls, the prize-winning films in the leading international film festivals, Cannes, Berlin, Rotterdam, Pusan or even at the Cesar awards 2009, and the latest releases never screened in Thailand. Action film (Largo Winch), adventure (Captain Ahab), family drama, historic film, biopic (Mesrine, Seraphine), romantic comedy (Modern Love), animation films (Fear(s) of the dark), offering the best possible glimpse into the most outstanding films of French cinema today.
